# What Do I Need To Trade

{% hint style="info" %}
The current version of Flipper is available on Solana. Support for EVM-compatible networks is planned for future releases.
{% endhint %}

Before placing your first trade, you'll need:

* A supported Solana wallet or an embedded wallet created through social login.
* Collateral, such as USDC or another supported asset, available for deposit.
* A small amount of SOL in your connected wallet to pay Solana network fees.
* A funded Flipper trading balance. Before trading, transfer collateral from your wallet using the Deposit button.

Once your trading balance is funded, you can access supported markets, review execution details, and submit trades through Flipper.

{% hint style="info" %}
Flipper is non-custodial. You authorize deposits and transactions through your connected wallet, while deposited collateral is held in on-chain smart contract vaults according to protocol rules.
{% endhint %}

1. Connect your supported Solana wallet.
2. Click Deposit in the top-right corner.
3. Select the asset and amount you want to deposit.
4. Approve the transaction in your wallet.
5. Wait for the transaction to be confirmed on the Solana network.
6. Once the deposit is complete, the funds will be available in your Flipper trading balance.

## <mark style="color:$primary;">A wallet or social login</mark>

To use Flipper, connect a supported external wallet or create an embedded wallet through social login.

You can connect a supported Solana wallet, including Phantom, Solflare, or Backpack.

If you don't already have a wallet, you can sign in using your email address or a supported social account, including Google, Apple, X, Discord, or Telegram. Flipper uses Privy to securely create and manage an embedded wallet for your account, allowing you to start trading without installing a browser extension or manually creating a wallet.

Regardless of how you sign in, you can access the same supported trading features within Flipper.

If you sign in with a social account, be sure to keep access to that account. It will be used to access your embedded wallet in future sessions.
{% endhint %}

## <mark style="color:$primary;">Collateral to Deposit</mark>

Before opening a position, deposit collateral into your Flipper trading balance using the Deposit button.

The current version of Flipper supports the following collateral assets:

* USDC (recommended)
* SOL
* USDT
* wBTC
* wETH

When making a deposit, simply select the collateral asset, enter the amount, and confirm the transaction in your connected wallet.

During a deposit, Flipper displays your available wallet balance for the selected asset, making it easy to choose the amount to transfer.

USDC is the recommended collateral asset because it provides the broadest compatibility with supported execution venues and trading pairs. Available markets and routes may differ depending on the selected collateral.

## <mark style="color:$primary;">Which collateral should I use?</mark>

For most users, USDC is the recommended choice because it offers the broadest market and venue coverage within Flipper's execution engine.

Other supported collateral assets can be used depending on your trading preferences and available balance.

## <mark style="color:$primary;">SOL for network fees</mark>

The current version of Flipper runs on Solana, where every on-chain transaction requires a small network fee paid in SOL.

You'll need a small amount of SOL in your connected wallet to complete actions such as:

* Depositing collateral
* Withdrawing funds
* Approving transactions
* Opening or closing positions

Solana network fees are typically low, and a small SOL balance is usually sufficient for multiple transactions.

{% hint style="info" %}
If your wallet doesn't have enough SOL to cover the network fee, the transaction cannot be submitted until your balance is replenished.
{% endhint %}
